Support the next generation to love nature and explore the outdoors

Applications are now open for our Level 2 Forest School Assistant training course, which is fully funded by the Lost Woods of the Low Weald and Downs project.

Youth workers, teachers, teaching assistants and community group leaders are encouraged to apply for a free place (please note there are currently 3 places remaining). To be eligible for the training, applicants must work in the Lost Woods project area.

The Level 2 course prepares you with the skills needed to effectively support a Forest School Leader in the delivery of Forest School sessions.

Training is delivered by Lost Woods project partner the Sussex Wildlife Trust, and you will gain a nationally recognised qualification accredited by AIM Qualifications.

During the course we will discuss the Forest school approach to learning and a positive attitude to taking risk. Practical skills covered will include safe lighting, management and use of a campfire in a Forest School setting, safe use of a range of hand tools and a variety of games and activities. Also covered will be the identification of woodland flora and fauna, and sustainable use of a woodland within the context of Forest School. The course will be run on Forest School principles, so you will see the Forest School ethos in action.
