We're delighted to share that the Lost Woods has been awarded the inaugural Ancient Woodland Shield by the Countryside Management Association (CMA).

The award recognises a project, initiative or innovative practice making an outstanding contribution to the conservation, management, interpretation or educational use of ancient woodland. Lost Woods was selected as the most deserving recipient of the inaugural award.

The award was presented at the CMA's 60th anniversary conference last week, where Lost Woods outreach adviser Bob Epsom collected the shield on behalf of the project.

The recognition celebrates the work of the Lost Woods partnership to protect and restore ancient woodland across Sussex, while bringing people and communities together to learn about, explore and care for their local woods.

We're pleased to share this recognition of the work being delivered across the Lost Woods area, and the many partners, volunteers, landowners and communities who are helping make it possible.
