As part of National Lottery Open Week, join us to explore the wonderful world of lichens on a free guided walk through Lag Wood with Lost Woods volunteer Sim Elliot, on Thursday 20 March 10am -12pm

Lichens are all around us- on trees, walls, pavements and even cars. Sim Elliot will lead us on a guided woodland walk through the stunning Lag Wood, and tell us all about these incredible organisms. Hand lenses will be provided.

This event is free for players of the National Lottery on presentation of a paper or digital lottery ticket or scratchcard. Places are limited, so to book your spot please email lostwoodsteam@ruralsussex.org.uk. UPDATE: This event is now fully booked. Please send us an email if you would like to join the waiting list.

Please wear appropriate footwear as the woodland paths can be muddy. Please note, no toilets are en route (other than at Hassocks train station).

Meeting place: Meet on the west side of Hassocks Railway station (the 'trains to London' side). We will then take a short walk (10 mins) to Lag Wood.

Walk distance: approx 2km.

Accessibility: The route covers uneven terrain, stiles, and some of the woodlands are prone to seasonal water-logging so unfortunately we would not recommend this walk for wheelchair users or for those bringing standard prams/ buggies.
